Mich Tech Polyphasic Day 1 (12/20/11)

So I have realized I haven't posted a blog in a couple days. The reasoning behind this is that I failed the first two nights I tried it. The first night I was so out of it by 6am that I didn't set my alarm right and ended up sleeping until 9am, and the next night I slept through my alarm at 6am or shut it off somehow. I can proudly say that I have made it through my first day. I was on a learning curve and found that I needed MULTIPLE alarms that were OUT OF MY REACH!!

 My first nap was at midnight (12/20/11) and I had no problem making it to that. Of course, I didn't feel like I got any sleep but none the less, I felt a little. I did fine until I hit the 3am mark. There is not much for me to do around my house with my family sleeping and all so I am limited to t.v., computer, video games and reading. All of which can make you drousy. I did fine with watching t.v. and doing stuff on my computer. Ya, I dosed of for a couple minutes every now and then from 3am - 6am and then after my nap at 6:30am, but I think even thought I failed the first two times, my body is somewhat getting used to it already. As I said, I am fine from 7am-midnight. I am just a little tired throughout the day, but I am fairly alert. Now for my observational data:


Brain activity/memory: I have trouble remember some things I do during the night. Supposedly, this morning I went into my room, turned on the light and left the door when I went to go get something and my brother was sleeping in the room. He came out five minutes later and I denied that I did it until I really thought about it.

Health: My stomach hurts a little after I eat something, sharp pains, but they go away after a few minutes.

Energy Levels: Pretty much like a roller coaster ride...they are high after naps and get lower until I have my naps. They are very low between 3am and 6am.

Daily Functioning: I can drive and do anything I normally do, but just more tired than I normally am when doing it.

Social Performance: I seemed to be very snappy at people and grumpy. I was fine talking to people, but I had a pretty short temper.

Eating Schedule: I ate two big meals today, but I probably should be eating 4 smaller meals; one after each nap with healthy snacking in between. I have been drinking tons of water too.

Weight: 180 lbs
